This is a collectable vintage straight razor from a US company in a beautifil mirror polished condition.
The razor has been fitted and customized with G10 Jade Ghost scales. Tapered with Bloody Jasper recon stone.
The blade is extremely clean and shiny with no rust, cracks, chips or disturbing stains.
There are some barely noticeable residual shallow micro surface pits left on the blade which are not an issue and don't affect anything.
Blade has been cleaned and polished.
Spine shows no significant hone wear.
The blade's width is 5/8 - straight point.
Grind: 3/8 Hollow
Shoulder: 1 stabilizer
Total weight: 1.8 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.70 inches
On the front shank it says: Berkshire Cutlery Co. - U.S.A
On the blade it says: Finest English Steel
Blade centers nicely between the scales.
Bottom of tang has jimps
From what I have been able to gather Berkshire Cutlery Co. was known for their swords, bowie knives, cutlery, razors... The company is from the same era as EC Simmons which was bought by Shapleigh in 1940. I put the razor somewhere between 1930 - 1940.
