FREDERICK REYNOLDS - SHEFFIELD - 11/16 - WEDGE
This is a stunning looking vintage razor.
The custom made scales are made of a 2x2 layered G10 - Black and Tan
The blade is very shiny, clean with no rust, cracks, chips or disturbing stains.
There are some residual micro pits left on the blade which are not an issue and don't affect anything.
Blade holds no hone wear to speak of.
Gorgeous smiling edge and spine.
Blade has been cleaned and polished.
The blade measures 11/16 - barber's notch.
Grind: xedge
Total weight: 2.6 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.65 inches
Pins/Washers: Nickel silver, stainless steel.
Wedge: 2x2 layered G10
On the front shank it says: Manufactured by Frederick Reynolds F.R.
Blade tends to close towards the side of the scales when closing but corrects itself nicely centerering at final stop.. The edge will never touch the scale. Pins are tight.
FREDERICK REYNOLDS Birmingham In business in 1892
It doesn't say 'England' on the tang which was required after 1890 due to new import laws.
I believe this razor to be somewhere between 1850-1870.
