|WADE & BUTCHER - SHEFFIELD - 6/8 - WEDGE - AMERICAN RAZOR
This is a great looking Sheffield vintage collectors razor from Wade & Butcher 'American Razor'. Pics don't even do it justice.
The custom scales are Sapphire Blue acrylic w/tapered faux Ivory wedge.
Razor has professionally been restored preserving as much as was possible.
I decided to leave the blade engraving as close to original and surface restored it just enough as not to lose it all. However this limits the cleaning and restoring of the front as one cannot fully expect all pitting and other blemishes to be gone while still preserving the engraving in its full glory.
Because of this remaining shallow residual blemishes remain but for a razor that old I'd say it looks extremely well preserved. Again, restoring the front of the blade would mean losing the whole 'American Razor' engraving. The rest of the razor tuned out immaculate. I could easily re-grind the front, remove the engraving, make it look immaculate and sell the razor for much higher, which I might still do if nobody is interested.
The blade measures 6/8 - wedge
Total weight: 1.9 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.80"
On the front shank it says: Wade & Butcher Sheffield.
On the blade it says: 'American Razor' with the Eagle.
Extremely nice and beautiful example of a Wade & Butcher.
Successor to Robert Wade; succeeded by Butcher, Brown & Butcher Sheffield - 1818-1890.
