MANUFACTURED BY WADE & BUTCHER - SHEFFIELD - 6/8 - ADAMANTINE EDGE
This is a an extremely rare and gorgeous looking vintage W&B 'Adamantine Edge' collectors razor. I've seen my share of vintage razors throughout my life but very rarely encountered a 'Adamantine Edge' W&B and in this condition.
The time period of this razor is somewhere around the mid 1800's.
The custom scales are made of Gray Translucent Horn w/tapered faux Ivory wedge.
Blade is in truly magnificent condition considering its age.
The razor is very shiny, clean with no rust, cracks or chips.
Blade has been cleaned and polished.
The blade measures 6/8 - Barber's notch.
Has a nice subtle smiling spine and edge.
It's close to being a true wedge. I would personally say between a true and near wedge.
Total weight: 2.6 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.90"
Brass and Silver nickel hardware
On the front shank it says: Manufactured By Wade & Butcher Sheffield
On the blade it says: Adamantine Edge
The engraving is still highly visible and in gorgeous condition.
Extremely nice, rare and beautiful example of a Wade & Butcher.
Successor to Robert Wade; succeeded by Butcher, Brown & Butcher Sheffield - 1818-1890.
