|WADE & BUTCHER - SHEFFIELD - 13/16 - NEAR WEDGE
This is another splendid looking Wade & Butcher Near Wedge vintage razor in excellent condition from the early 1800's. Considering this razor is over a 150 years old I'd say it's looking damn magnificent.
The razor was professionally restored preserving the original Near Wedge grind and as much as the engraving would allow. It's really difficult to capture the beauty of this razor. I deliberated for a long time to the remaining etching as to completely remove or leave as is. I deciced to keep the etching/engraving and lightly buffed that part making sure to keep as much as possible. It's still present but hard to completely capture on picture.
The custom scales are Blue Paua ALVS. This is 100% real Abalone shell with a blue backing and topcoat durable acrylic layer. Has been tapered with a G10 Blue.
The blade measures 13/16, topping 7/8 near the toe side.
Very subtle smiling edge and spine.
Grind: Near Wedge Barber's notch.
Total weight: 2.4 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.70 inches
Hardware: Silver nickel pins. Stainless steel and brass washers
On the front shank it says: Wade & Butcher - Sheffield
Centers nicely and pins are tight.
Extremely beautiful condition and example of at least a 150 years old Wade & Butcher razor.
