WADE & BUTCHER - SHEFFIELD - CELEBRATED DAMASCUS RAZOR - 13/16
This is a magnificent looking Wade & Butchers 'Celebrated Damascus Steel' engraved Near Wedge vintage razor in excellent pristine condition from the early 1800's. Considering this razor is over a 160 years old I'd say it's looking damn magnificent.
The razor was professionally restored (no greaseless compounds) preserving the original Near Wedge grind and as much as the engraving would allow. It's really difficult to capture the beauty of this razor. Pics don't even do it justice. Customers that know my work, know exactly what I'm talking about.
Has a nice gorgeous natural looking mirror shine.
The custom scales are Blue Paua LVS. This is 100% real Abalone shell with a blue backing and topcoat durable acrylic layer. Has been tapered with a black horn wedge.
The blade measures 13/16
Smiling edge and spine.
Grind: Near Wedge Barber's notch.
Total weight: 2.2 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.70 inches
Hardware: Silver nickel pins. Stainless steel and brass washers
On the front shank it says: Wade & Butcher - Sheffield
On the blade it says: Wade & Butchers Celebrated Damascus Steel with an ornamental engraving.
All engraving are still nicely visible.
Centers nicely and pins are tight.
Extremely beautiful condition and example of at least a 160 years old Wade & Butcher razor.
Successor to Robert Wade; succeeded by Butcher, Brown & Butcher Sheffield - 1818-1890.
