|WADE & BUTCHER - 'THE CELEBRATED - SHEFFIELD - 6/8 - 1/2 HOLLOW
This is a pretty old vintage Wade & Butcher ' The Celebrated' Medium size hollow ground razor. The style of the shorter monkey tail places this razor somewhere between 1830 - 1850.
The custom made scales are made of Dark Blond Translucent Horn w/tapered G10 Hunter Orange wedge
The blade is satin finished, clean with no rust, cracks or chips.
Considering the age of the razor it has a few remaining surface stains and micro shallow pits left on the blade. Removing it all would have meant losing the engraving.
Blade has minor hone wear, if any at all.
Blade has been cleaned..
The blade measures 6/8, barber's notch.
Total weight: 2.0 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.70"
Brass and Silver nickel hardware
On the front blade it says: Wade & Butcher 'The Celebrated' Medium size hollow ground razor. The engraving is still nicely visible
On the tang it says: Wade & Butcher - Sheffield. Partially faded but still visible.
Extremely nice and beautiful vintage example of a Wade & Butcher.
Successor to Robert Wade; succeeded by Butcher, Brown & Butcher Sheffield - 1818-1890.
