MANUFACTURED BY WADE & BUTCHER - SHEFFIELD - 13/16 - HOLLOW GROUND
This is a an extremely sharp vintage straight razor manufactured by Wade & Butcher. It compares to the 'For Barber's use' and 'The Celebrated' both in the half hollow ground and shave.
The custom made scales are made of G10 Jade Ghost w/tapered Bloody Red Jasper recon stone
The blade is very shiny, clean with no rust, cracks or chips.
There are a few remaining residual shallow surface pits left on the blade. Each side of the blade has a remaining residual micro pit just in the middle and was impossible to remove as it's just on the hollow part. Off course none of those blemishes affect the shave or the edge. Overall it looks extremely good but I do like to disclose small imperfections.
Blade holds practically no hone wear.
Blade has been cleaned and polished.
The blade measures 13/16.
Has a very subtle smiling spine.
Blade centers nicely and razor sits snug between the scales.
Total weight: 2.5 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.6"
Brass and Silver nickel hardware
On the front shank it says: Manufactured By Wade & Butcher Sheffield
Extremely nice and beautiful example of a Wade & Butcher.
Successor to Robert Wade; succeeded by Butcher, Brown & Butcher Sheffield - 1818-1890.
