WADE & BUTCHER - SHEFFIELD - 7/8 - RE-GRIND
This is a beautiful 1/8 Hollow Sheffield steel vintage razor from Wade & Butcher in excellent condition from the 1800's.
The razor was completely restored with a total re-grind, preserving the original 1/8 Hollow grind (it's a tad hollower than a near wedge).
The custom made scales are M3 Mokume Gane Titanium tapered with Bloody Jasper recon stone. The Mokume Gane is made of 95% real metal that has been atomized down to the molecular level and combined with special chemical binders. M3 stands for "Macro Molecular Metal".
The blade measures 7/8 throughout most of the width except near the heel at 13/16 as the razor has a nice subtle smile.
Grind: 1/8 Hollow - nice subtle smiling spine and edge
Total weight: 2.5 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.75 inches
Hardware: Silver nickel pins. Stainless steel and brass washers
On the front shank it says: Manufactured by Wade & Butcher - Sheffield
Extremely beautiful condition and example of at least a 130 years old Wade & Butcher razor.
Successor to Robert Wade; succeeded by Butcher, Brown & Butcher Sheffield - 1818-1890.
