As you might know UFC 65 – Bad Intentions – Matt Hughes VS George St. Pierre will battle it out on Saturday November the 18th at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California. Shaking his fist and smiling, St. Pierre – who weighed in at 169 pounds – had no hint of nerves before the UFC 65 headliner, which also features the UFC heavyweight title bout between champion Tim Sylvia and challenger Jeff Monson. For Hughes, it seemed to be just another day at the office, and the longtime titleholder was also noticeably loose backstage before and after weighing in at the welterweight limit of 170 pounds. A fight definitely not to miss. The same night we also have the UFC Heavyweight Championship bout, Tim Sylvia “The Maineiac” (262.5) vs Jeff Monson (237.5).
I have the foremost respect for both fighters but Matt Hughes stays my favorite together with Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. Now here arises the problem. Chuck “The Iceman”and Tito ”The Huntington Beach Boy” will battle it out on UFC 66. That’s going to be an interesting one since Tito has already lost from Chuck “The iceman”and Randy “The Natural Couture” ( a true legend that has retired from fighting). It’s interesting to notice that Chuck never takes his fights to the ground. Instead he’s a he’s a fearsome opponent with dominating stand-up, seemingly effortless combination striking(usually including his trademark “setup” punch, a looping overhand left hook), exceptional takedown defense and counter-punching. Tito on the other hand is the ground and pound monster that’s afraid of nobody. He kicked Ken Shamrock’s ass several times in a row and Shamrock is also a true legend. I can’t wait to go see this fight since it’s going to be battled out in the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, Dec. 30 2006 in Las Vegas, my hometown!
